My late father had a saying "Always the Bridesmaid, Never the Bride" that seemed to relate to racing results and roughly translated as always backing the second or third horse but never a winner! This expression seemed quite appropriate to my recent entries into Banbury Camera Club competitions given second places in both the Annual PDI Competition and the inaugural Alan Sargeant Trophy competitions. This all changed on the 4th April when my colour print entitled Overflow was placed first in the club's Annual Colour Print competition for the Alcan Shield, receiving some very complimentary comments from the judge Alan Taberer. The image was one of several that I took at an overflow from the Oxford Canal on the outskirts of Banbury, an unassuming location that provided me with some excellent images (even if I do say so myself!). To cap an excellent evening my A Very Fine Lady print was placed second in the Annual Mono Print competition for the Wordsworth Cup..
